A Marietta man is accused of driving drunk and causing a wreck that killed a driver on I-20 over the weekend, authorities said.

Mark Steven Ridling, 29, was driving his 2013 Hyundai Azera on I-20 East just before 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Cobb County police said in a news release. He’s accused of hitting a 1994 Toyota Corolla near Factory Shoals Road, causing it to go off the right side of the road and overturn.

The driver of the Toyota, 47-year-old Brian Garieth Betts, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died, the release said.

Ridling, whose vehicle struck the median barrier, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries before being booked into the Cobb jail, the release said.

He faces charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving and following too closely. Ridling remains in jail without bond, records show.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cobb police at 770-499-3987.
