A Decatur woman faces three felonies after being accused of shooting at a man in Villa Rica, causing bullet fragments to damage his vehicle.

Tamara Shandrea Riggins, 29, shot at the car along Claghorn Street on Tuesday afternoon, according to Villa Rice police. She faces counts of aggravated assault, first-degree criminal damage to property and terroristic threats.

Investigators said the victim approached Riggins, believing she was the daughter of an old friend, the department said in a Facebook post. However, things quickly escalated.

Riggins became angry, pulled out a handgun and threatened to shoot the victim, police said. In response, he began to walk toward his car.

While he approached his vehicle, Riggins got into the passenger side of another vehicle as its driver was pulling away, and she fired a gunshot near the victim’s car, police said. Debris and metal fragments from the bullet hitting the asphalt hit the victim’s car, causing damage.

Police said there were several people, including children, in the area behind where the victim’s vehicle was parked. No one was injured.

Once investigators obtained the arrest warrants against Riggins, she turned herself in to the Carroll County jail, authorities said. On Thursday night, she remained in custody without bond.

It’s unclear whether any other suspects are sought in this case.
