A Pickens County sheriff’s deputy was flown to the hospital Sunday morning after being ejected from his vehicle during a crash, officials said.

The crash happened on Ga. 515 near Noah Drive in Pickens County, about 60 miles north of Atlanta, the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook. The deputy’s vehicle rolled over, ejecting him, and he was airlifted to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

He was “alert and conscious,” authorities said.

The driver of the other involved vehicle was taken to an Atlanta-area hospital in serious condition. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.

No further information was immediately available.

“Please say a prayer for the individuals involved and their families,” the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office wrote in its Facebook post.
