A broken-down motorist was injured Tuesday when he got out of his car on a Roswell road and it was hit by another vehicle, authorities said.

The driver broke down on the side of Ga. 92 just west of Westwind Boulevard, according to Roswell police traffic investigators. He was leaning into his car looking for something when his vehicle was rear-ended.

He suffered an ankle and head injury and was stable when he was taken to a hospital, police said. The driver of the other vehicle took himself to a hospital to be checked out.

The incident shut down all but one eastbound lane of Ga. 92 just before 6:30 p.m. The road didn’t fully reopen until 9 p.m.

The names of the two drivers were not released. The incident is still under investigation, and charges have not been determined, police spokesman Sean Thompson said Wednesday.
