A man was killed Thursday evening after getting struck by a vehicle on the side of I-285 in DeKalb County, police said.

The wreck occurred shortly after 7 p.m. near the Bouldercrest Road exit, according to DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent.

Police said the man was in an eastbound lane when the passing vehicle hit him. He has not been identified, and it’s unclear why he was standing on the interstate, authorities said.

The fatal crash remains under investigation, but no charges are expected.
