A Flowery Branch man was killed Thursday morning after being struck by a car near Gainesville, the Georgia State Patrol said.

James Matthew Tabor, 59, was standing in an eastbound lane of Ga. 53 shortly after 6 a.m. when he was hit by a Honda Civic, authorities said.

The driver of the Civic remained at the scene, according to officials. No charges are expected.
