A 24-year-old Paulding County man was about to start a new job last Friday in Marietta.
However, he was the victim of a deadly hit-and-run that morning before he could clock in on his first day, according to a GoFundMe page.
Aaron C. Quarterman was hit and killed on Ga. 92 near Cedarcrest Road, AJC.com previously reported. Georgia State Patrol troopers found his body about 7 a.m.

Quarterman, of Dallas, was walking along the road’s shoulder when he was hit, GSP said. The driver who hit him did not stop or call authorities.
The incident took place less than two miles from the Somerset neighborhood where he grew up and still lived, the GoFundMe page said.
He was about to start a new job at Xtraction Smoothies and Vegan Cafe the morning he was found dead, according to the page.
“He leaves behind 2 parents, a sister, aunt, cousins, and 3 nephews and a host of close friends who truly loved Aaron,” the page said. “He was well known and respected by his community as a young man who smiled, loved to laugh, and would speak kind words to people he interacted with. He loved to pray.”
As of Friday afternoon, the page had raised more than $3,700 to go toward Quarterman’s funeral expenses.
A celebration of life will be held March 21 at 10 a.m. at Sims Funeral Home in Smyrna. The viewing is at 9 a.m.
The victim’s family is hoping the “heartless person” who left the young man to die along the road is caught soon.
Investigators have not determined what type of vehicle struck Quarterman or what time he may have been hit. Anyone with information is asked to contact the State Patrol at 706-624-1484.
