A Paulding County man has been jailed after a woman was found shot and left by the side of a highway Sunday in Bartow County, authorities said.

David Brooks, 52, of Acworth, was arrested Sunday afternoon by Paulding County deputies on an aggravated assault charge, according to Bartow County sheriff’s spokesman Jonathan Rogers.

About 3:20 p.m., Bartow deputies got a call from someone in the area of the Ga. 20 Spur and Sukkau Drive that a woman had been shot multiple times, Rogers said. Deputies found Natalie Davis, 53, of Cartersville, on the side of the road, Rogers said.

She was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover.

An investigation led authorities to Brooks. No other details were released. The investigation is ongoing.
