Six Parkview High School upperclassmen baseball players are being investigated for alleged “inappropriate” behavior involving incoming freshmen players at a tournament in South Carolina last Friday, the school announced Tuesday.

The older students allegedly entered about three hotel rooms of freshmen players Friday night and began to wrestle with them, according to a statement issued through Gwinnett County Public Schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach.

Team coaches discovered the incident later that night while checking on players, the statement said.

There also was an allegation made of “inappropriate physical contact by an older student toward one of the freshmen,” according to the statement.

The coach reported the allegation to the athletic director and administrators.

“The school is actively investigating this situation and will take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation,” according to the statement. “School Police have been notified and upon completion of their investigation will share information with the appropriate jurisdictional authority.”

Parkview’s summer team canceled its game with Loganville on Tuesday, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Coach Chan Brown recently was named the National High School Coaches Association’s Baseball Coach of the Year.
