A former police officer in Grantville has been jailed in Coweta County after a GBI incest investigation.

James Christopher Holmes made false statements to officials during the investigation, GBI agent Fred Wimberly told AJC.com Tuesday.

Holmes also is charged with incest in Pike County, where he lives, according to Wimberly.

Wimberly said the GBI was requested by Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney Benjamin Coker in July to open an incest investigation on Holmes. The alleged incidents took place in Pike County in the past year.

Holmes was fired from the Grantville force after the investigation.

He surrendered at the Coweta County Jail on Monday without incident. Plans are to transfer Holmes to the Pike County jail to face the incest charge, Wimberly said.
