A Rabun County mother faces a murder charge after her 18-month-old died after being found in a pool Wednesday, authorities said.

Jacklyn Frady, 26, of Clayton, faces second-degree murder and child cruelty charges after her unsupervised child drowned about 1 p.m., the GBI said in a news release.

Authorities were called to a home off Grapevine Lane after the child was found unresponsive, the release said. It’s unclear who called 911 or how long the child had been left unattended.

The child was taken to a hospital before being pronounced dead. An autopsy performed at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur found that the child drowned, the release said.

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate the death. GBI spokeswoman Natalie Ammons told AJC.com the investigation is ongoing and no further details would be provided.

Frady was booked into the Rabun County jail.
