A Covington man has been charged with two counts of murder for allegedly killing his wife and son, the Newton County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Robert Davis, 49, called police around 4:20 p.m. Thursday and reported that he had shot two of his relatives in the family’s Helm Drive home, the Sheriff’s Office said. Davis was taken into custody when deputies arrived.

Inside the home deputies found the bodies of Davis’ wife Bernadene S. Lebert-Davis, 43, and the couple’s son, 21-year-old Robert M. Kelli-Davis, Deputy Felicia Jefferson said Friday. No information was released on a possible motive for the killings.

The bodies of the mother and son were taken to the GBI crime lab for autopsies.
