Fayetteville police released surveillance footage Wednesday that they believe shows those responsible for killing a local restaurant manager earlier this month.
Authorities believe Gregory Smith, 27, was shot and killed inside his vehicle about 3 a.m. June 7, shortly after he locked the Applebee's on North Glynn Street. No suspects have been named, but police have now released additional video footage in an attempt to change that.
The short video shows what authorities believe to be a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu drive behind the restaurant with its lights off. The car “pauses near the back door of Applebee’s then continues at about the same time Smith was exiting the front door,” Fayetteville police Lt. Mike Whitlow said.
The Malibu is “occupied by at least two people,” Whitlow said. “Fayetteville police believe the occupants of the Malibu to be persons of interest in the murder investigation.”
Anyone with information about the vehicle or its occupants is asked to contact Fayetteville police at 770-461-4441 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
