A Conyers fugitive was arrested Friday after allegedly using a 13-year-old girl as an accomplice in an armed robbery last month.

Calvin Smith, 20, a second unnamed suspect and a 13-year-old accomplice are accused of robbing a man at gunpoint at the Briar Creek Apartments May 24, AJC.com previously reported.

The teenage girl set up a “date” with the robbery victim, and when they met, Smith and a second man pulled out a gun and stole cash and the victim’s phone, police said.

On Friday, Smith was spotted running from a vacant residence where police noticed “fresh gang-related graffiti,” Conyers police said in a Facebook post.

Police said officers were meeting with the homeowner when they noticed Smith, who had an active warrant for armed robbery, and an acquaintance, 20-year-old Tayvion Clark, running out of the back door.

A chase ensued near the Olde Town area, and it ended with Smith and Clark being taken into custody after being forced out of the wood line.

Smith faces charges of armed robbery, first-degree burglary and violation of probation, jail records show. Clark is charged with first-degree burglary.

Police confirmed Clark is not the other suspect from the initial May 24 armed robbery. No description of that suspect has been provided.

Smith and Clark remain in the Rockdale County Jail.
