A mother and her 14-year-old son were injured when someone fired into their southeast Atlanta townhouse Thursday morning.

At least one bullet went through the 39-year-old woman’s finger and hit the boy’s arm, according to Atlanta police. Officers were called to investigate the shooting at the Oxford Village Townhouses on Jonesboro Road about 1:15 a.m.

When they arrived, both victims were taken to a hospital and were believed to be stable.

“The investigation revealed that (the woman) and her son were inside their apartment near the window when gunshots were heard outside in the parking lot,” police spokesman Officer Steve Avery said in a statement. “At least one bullet came into the apartment and struck (the woman) and her son.”

No one at the complex saw who fired the shots, Avery said. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting.
