After spending 643 days in the Cobb County jail, the Georgia woman convicted of murdering her daughter-in-law has begun serving a life sentence.

On March 9, Elizabeth “Betsy” Wall, 69, pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the 2016 shooting death of Jenna Wall, a Cobb kindergarten teacher. She was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On June 23, 2016, Betsy Wall was visiting from south Georgia and taking care of her grandsons, then ages 7 and 8. She was supposed to take the boys swimming, according to investigators, but instead drove to Jenna’s home. Wall left the boys in her car while she went inside and shot her daughter-in-law four times.

Early Wednesday, Betsy Wall was booked into Arrendale State Prison in Alto, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
