A man accused of torturing a 61-year-old Gwinnett County woman and her son has been charged with murder in another metro Atlanta jurisdiction, police said.

Cobb police on Friday said investigators there charged Rickey Taylor in the death of Richard Bell, who was found dead in his bed at the Lincoln Hills Apartments on Windcliffe Drive shortly before 11 p.m. July 8.

Taylor, 29, was already in the Gwinnett jail when Cobb officials charged him with felony murder, aggravated assault and false imprisonment, Cobb police spokeswoman Alicia Chilton said.
One month after Bell’s death, Taylor allegedly stabbed Nicola Sramek and her 29-year-old son James Sramek in Gwinnett. They were found about 10 p.m. Aug. 7 in an apartment in the 3300 block of Chelsea Park Lane in Norcross after a relative asked police to check on them.
Taylor was arrested days later.
“It is very disturbing to know that there are people in our society who are capable of exacting such levels of violence against others,” Gwinnett police Cpl. Deon Washington said at the time of Taylor’s arrest.
It was not clear how police linked Taylor to both crimes, but all of the victims died of blunt force trauma, authorities in both counties said.
Taylor is no stranger to police. From armed robbery to kidnapping, he has faced 23 charges in Gwinnett alone. Seventeen of those charges are still active, according to jail records.
Gwinnett authorities held him on unspecified charges out of Bartow County as well, the records show.
