A Rockdale County mother pulled her daughter out of school after she says a boy punched the student in the face.

Derykka Miller told Channel 2 Action News her 7-year-old, Sasha, is still having nightmares after a boy punched her so hard her head hit a wall in December.

The children were second-grade students at C.J. Hicks Elementary in Conyers at the time.

“We shouldn’t have to worry about our kids going to school and being assaulted,” Miller told the news station.

After filing a report with the sheriff’s office, Miller was told the boy is too young to be charged and the school denies a history of bullying.

“This was an isolated incident that was handled swiftly and appropriately by school personnel,” school officials said in a statement.

Sasha told officials she kept the alleged bullying to herself, Channel 2 reported. The girl told Channel 2 she prefers home school because she “can’t get hurt.”

Channel 2's Matt Johnson reports.
