A Mississippi man was killed Wednesday morning when he lost control of his car while exiting I-75 and struck a tree, police said.
Atlanta police clocked 31-year-old Charleson Pickett traveling north at a high rate of speed near the Moores Mill Road exit about 2:30 a.m., the Georgia State Patrol said.
The officer tried to catch up to the gray Honda Accord, but Pickett lost control on a curve while exiting the interstate and hit the tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Pickett was the only person in the car at the time. The fatal wreck is still being investigated.
