A 24-year-old man reported missing in DeKalb County was found dead over the weekend more than 30 miles away in Clayton County, according to police.

Firefighters working to extinguish a brush fire near a Jonesboro neighborhood located the body of Andre Tripps, who had been tied up and burned, Clayton County police said.

"His hands and feet were tied up at some point," Major Joseph Woodall told Channel 2 Action News.

Tripps' brother reported him missing and in danger to Brookhaven police, Woodall said. Surveillance video before his death shows Tripps with several men in DeKalb County, police said. Investigators have not determined how Tripps' body ended up two counties away.

Neighbors on Thrasher Road, near Lovejoy, told Channel 2 they were shocked and frightened to learn of the violence so close to home.

"This is normally a quiet street," Jo Ann Bullard said. "I just can't even imagine something like that."

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact police.
