Clayton County police are looking for the people who they say shot and killed a man outside of an apartment building on Riverdale Road.

When an officer went to the Reserve at Riverdale apartments on April 3, he found Robert Ragland, 27, lying on the ground between a wooden wall and a tan Crown Victoria, according to an incident report obtained Wednesday by AJC.com. There was blood on the front of his shirt, and his cellphone and keys were nearby.

Witnesses told police they saw Ragland drive up to the location and park his car. The man got out of the driver’s side door, and a woman got out of the passenger side, according to the witnesses. The woman walked into the breezeway of the building, while Ragland stood near the car smoking a cigarette.

Two men walked out of the breezeway, police said. Around that time, witnesses told police they heard Ragland say, “You got me.” Then, one of the men shot Ragland.

The men took off running toward Brookstone Road, according to the report. Ragland slumped over the hood of his car and tried to use his cellphone before falling to the ground, according to witnesses. Police said he was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Descriptions of the two men have not been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
