Two men hired to paint a house died at Atlanta hospitals after possibly being electrocuted Wednesday night, police said.

Just after 8:15 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Crumley Street after being called about two people who were injured, Atlanta police said. Two men were found unconscious and not breathing at the scene.

A ladder was seen against a home, and police believe the men were hired as subcontractors to paint the house and could have been electrocuted. No power lines were down in the area, and Georgia Power was notified of the incident.

One of the men was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, while the other was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, police said. They both died shortly after.

They were identified Friday by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as Maurice Hankerson, 53, and Terrell Cheatham, 35, both of Atlanta. The causes of their deaths have not been determined.
