Two 18-year-olds were charged in connection with the rape of a University of West Georgia freshman at a residence hall, officials confirmed Thursday.

Jacob McClendon and Terrance Britt, both of Stockbridge, were suspended from school following the alleged Oct. 15 sexual assault, West Georgia police Chief Tom Mackel told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to Mackel, the men and the victim had dinner before going back to The Oaks residence hall, where they drank alcohol.

“The woman wasn’t able to protect herself and the men made advances toward her,” Mackel said.

Mackel said the victim received help from campus health services. “We try to support whatever the victim wants to do,” he said.

The two men are out on bond.
