Authorities in Rockdale County are investigating a fatal shooting Monday night.

Lee Marvin Hardeman, 48, of McDonough, was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot as he was driving away in his truck following what witnesses called a verbal argument, Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Andy Arnold said in a news release issued Tuesday.

According to Arnold, deputies responded to a fight call with shots fired on Rockmont Circle off of Johnson Road at about 7:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found Hardeman dead in his truck in the parking lot. Witnesses told deputies that Hardeman had been in an argument and that as he drove away someone fired multiple shots at his truck.
