Two MARTA police officers are on paid leave following their Friday morning arrests on disorderly conduct charges, officials said.

Online records show Cedrone Durand Hodges, 38, and Malcolm Nicholas, 44, were booked into the DeKalb County jail just before 4:30 a.m. Friday. Both were charged with disorderly conduct, and Nicholas was also charged with public intoxication.

Messages left with the DeKalb County Police Department, which is listed as the arresting agency, were not immediately returned. Details about the arrests were not available, but Channel 2 Action News reported Hodges and Nicholas were detained at a restaurant in Lithonia.

MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris confirmed that both men are MARTA police officers.

“The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation that is already underway,” Harris said in an emailed statement.

Records show Hodges and Nicholas were released on bond about two hours after their arrests.
