A family was reunited with their dog after a man snatched it from their children at a DeKalb County park.

The man approached the children at Glen Emerald Park Wednesday and grabbed Lady, a small, cream-colored dog, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Quan Bass told the news station her family learned through the Nextdoor app that the dog had been found, but suffered a broken leg after a car hit it.

The dog survived, but the family wants the community to remain alert because the dog thief is still out there.

“It is beyond frightening,” Bass told Channel 2. “You wouldn’t expect that to happen especially when you see children.”

The dog thief was driving a dark blue and black minivan.

Anyone with information should DeKalb County police.
