Man shot, killed in downtown Athens

A 28-year-old man was shot and killed early Saturday in downtown Athens, according to a media report.
The victim, Daniel Joseph Macias, was killed at the intersection of North Jackson Street and East Hancock Avenue, the Athens Banner-Herald reported.
Investigators worked the area, talking with bar workers and others as they attempted to piece together Macias’ movements before the incident, the paper reported.
