A man with a gunshot wound to the chest was pushed out of a car on I-75/85 northbound, south of I-20, police said.

Police said people in two cars were arguing about 3:45 p.m. before several rounds were fired and a man who appears to be in his 20s was hit once in the chest, Major Adam Lee, a spokesman for Atlanta police said.

Lee said the shooting happened at 1662 Sylvan Road and several shell casings were found on the ground.

A black car, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu, was likely on its way to Grady Memorial Hospital, Lee said.

The wounded man was then pushed from a the car onto the interstate in front of a Clayton County ambulance.

The emergency service workers on that ambulance started performing CPR on the man and took him to Grady Memorial Hospital. Police said at 4:30 p.m. he had died.

Investigators are now searching for the red and black cars and any information about the people fighting on Sylvan Road or what they were fighting about.

“We’re still trying to determine what happened and who the victim is,” Lee said.
