A Valdosta man who pleaded guilty to attempted murder on Monday said he wanted the cop to shoot him, officials said.

Stephen Beck, 22, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Southern District Attorney Brad Shealy told the Valdosta Daily Times.

Authorities said Beck made a false 911 call July 8, 2016, reporting a vehicle break-in so he could ambush the responding officer.

After the shooting, Beck reportedly told the Georgia Bureau of Investigation that he was depressed and wanted to be shot by a police officer.

Randall Hancock, an 11-year veteran of the Valdosta Police Department, was shot multiple times and returned fire, the newspaper reported. Both men were hospitalized, but later recovered from their injuries.

Beck is facing up to 30 years in prison.
