A man was hit by a car and killed early Saturday while changing a tire along I-85 in Barrow County, authorities said.
Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Tracey Watson said two vehicles were stopped along the interstate near Hamilton Mill Road around 1:10 a.m. Both drivers were outside their vehicles and “attempting to repair a tire” when a third car sideswiped them.
Both tire-repairing drivers were struck and one of them was killed, Watson said. The deceased man’s identity was not released. The other victim’s condition was unclear.
The car that allegedly triggered the crash “came to a final rest in the ditch on the northbound shoulder,” authorities said. The driver’s condition was not released.
I-85 northbound was closed for several hours due to the investigation, which is ongoing, Watson said.
