Police are investigating a double shooting that left a 23-year-old man dead and his brother injured in the arm and leg Thursday outside a Lithonia home.

Officers responded to the shooting that left Jordan Collins dead and Chad Collins injured about 1:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Tunbridge Wells Crescent, police said.

“It appears that they were at this residence house-sitting for their sister who was out of town, and a couple of girls were over also,” DeKalb County police Lt. Mark Lavigne said.

At one point, Chad Collins, 24, went into the back yard to check on a dog, and a group of unknown men shot him, police said.

“It appears he was shot with a shotgun,” Lavigne said.

Jordan Collins was shot and killed when he ran outside to see what was going on. His body was found in the back yard, police said.

The women believed to be at the home during the shooting left the scene. Police are looking for them.

Officers are unclear if the brothers were set up.

Crime scene investigators and the DeKalb County Medical Examiner were on the scene Thursday morning.

Chad Collins was taken to an area hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
