A Cobb County grand jury has indicted the man accused of killing his passenger when he drove up to 80 mph and crashed into a tree, according to the District Attorney.

Isaiah Antionge Durrel Williams was driving on Marble Hill Road at Kenmill Drive, near Marietta, when he lost control of his green 1996 Infiniti I30, left the roadway and hit a tree on Nov. 15, 2015, around 2:20 p.m., police previously said.

Christopher Martin, the front seat passenger, was critically injured in the crash. The 2015 Marietta High School graduate died from his injuries the following day at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Williams was also injured in the crash, but his injuries were not serious, according to police. He admitted to driving up to 80 mph before the crash, despite a posted speed limit of 30 mph in the area, police said.

“Mr. Williams stated that he knowingly operated the Infiniti at speeds ranging between 70 and 80 miles per hour,” his arrest warrant states. “Roadway and vehicle evidence at the collision scene were also indicative of speeds that exceeded the 30 miles per hour speed limit.”

Police also found suspected marijuana in the center console of the car, and a hand-rolled cigarette, the warrant states.

Williams was arrested and released the same night on $50,000 bond, booking records showed. On Oct. 6, he was indicted on charges of first-degree vehicular homicide and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

A court date has not yet been set for Williams.
