Man hit by SUV, killed on Cobb Parkway

A pedestrian was hit and killed Wednesday on Cobb Parkway.
A man was hit and killed early Wednesday when he stepped in front of a vehicle in Cobb County, police said.
The incident happened about 6:15 a.m. on Cobb Parkway near Marietta, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a news release.
A Ford Explorer was heading north approaching EMC Parkway when Mark Anthony Campfield, 48, stepped into the road and was hit, according to police. The driver, 48-year-old Erasto Maravilla of Lawrenceville, stopped right after hitting Campfield, Pierce said.
Campfield was taken by ambulance to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Maravilla wasn’t injured and is not expected to be charged, Pierce said.
