Investigators in Coweta County are trying to find a man they say hid inside a Costco until it closed and then stole nearly $14,000 in jewelry.
The incident happened at the store on Fischer Crossings Boulevard, according to Channel 2 Action News. The wholesale retailer opened in that area in August.
The Coweta sheriff’s office said a man walked inside the store, cased the place and left. A few hours later, he came back.

He never left, investigators said.
“The suspect or offender walks around and eventually hides behind a display at the front wall of the business,” Coweta sheriff’s office spokesman Jae Robertson told Channel 2.
Investigators said the man waited there for nearly five hours until the store closed. He then emerged from his hiding spot and smashed a glass jewelry display case, according to surveillance video from the store.
“It is a big store and he found a spot in the store where he could conceal himself,” Robertson said.
The man grabbed handfuls of jewelry and ran off, officials said.
Deputies believe surveillance cameras from a nearby theater captured the truck the man used to get away, Channel 2 reported.
An investigation is ongoing.
