A Coweta County real estate agent is headed to prison after he acknowledged inappropriate activity involving a 14-year-old boy he met through a dating app, authorities said.

Alan Jason Levine, 56, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of sexual exploitation of children after prosecutors said he met and communicated with the boy on Grindr, which caters to gay and bisexual men.

Levine was sentenced to three years in prison and 17 years on probation, authorities said. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Authorities said Levine met the boy in the summer of 2016, communicated with him and arranged to meet him at a local swimming pool despite knowing his age. The boy’s father saw them at the pool and ended the rendezvous before it got serious, according to Lt. Jason Fetner with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy eventually told his father he met a man named Jason on Grindr, and his father contacted investigators.

Levine acknowledged he knew the boy was 14 and said it was possible he showed him explicit photographs before he found out his true age, according to prosecutors. A search of Levine’s phone and tablet revealed messages between Levine and the victim.
