A Florida man was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences plus 20 years after being found guilty of raping and molesting two girls in Cobb County.

George Henry Lawton, 27, of Jacksonville, was convicted by a jury of all 11 of the charges he faced -- rape, four counts of aggravated sodomy, four counts of aggravated child molestation, and two counts of child molestation, Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds' office said.

The sexual assaults happened at three south Cobb residences between 2009 and 2011, prosecutors said. One of the children testified against Lawton.

"He has been convicted of repeatedly raping and sodomizing an 8-year-old girl, and sodomizing a girl who was no more than 5 years old," Assistant D.A. Chuck Boring said in the news release. "The evidence has shown that he cannot be trusted to be a free man."

Lawton had prior convictions, the D.A.'s office said.
