DeKalb County police Friday were investigating an overnight robbery at a home near Lithonia that turned deadly.
The robbery and shooting of the unidentified man happened at a home on Fields Drive.
Channel 2 Action News reported the victim’s girlfriend and her two children, ages 7 and 8, were upstairs during the incident and were not injured.
The woman ran downstairs after hearing a gunshot and saw two men running from the home, according to Channel 2. Her boyfriend died before police arrived.
Cash and other items were taken during the robbery.
Police were trying to determine if the victim, described as a man in his late 20s, knew his assailants.
