A man wearing a hard hat and other construction worker clothing robbed a bank in Norcross, Gwinnett County police said.

The man walked into a Wells Fargo bank in the 6100 block of Buford Highway about 2 p.m. Tuesday, police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said. The man handed the teller a note, placed his hand under his shirt to give the impression that he was armed and told the teller, “Don’t do anything stupid,” Washington said.

The man requested $100 and $50 bills, and made off with more than $2,500 in cash, Washington said.

Police said the man is between 55 and 60 years old, about 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. A reward of up to $2,000 is available.
