Authorities are investigating after a man died shortly after being seen “in distress” in a Decatur public swimming pool Tuesday afternoon, the city’s spokeswoman said.

About 1:15 p.m., a lifeguard at the Glenlake Pool off Church Street pulled Bryan Perry Lingerfelt, 58, of College Park, from the water and administered CPR until police and firefighters arrived, Renae Madison told AJC.com.

Lingerfelt was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, she said.

Authorities have not determined Lingerfelt’s cause of death, Madison said.

The pool was closed until last Wednesday, officials said.
