Police have arrested a Marietta man they say forced his way into an east Cobb home and sexually assaulted a woman in the middle of the day.

Investigators say Kendal Chaves, 34, knocked on the woman’s bedroom window about 11:30 a.m. Friday.

When she opened the front door to see who was outside, he forced his way into her Colony Drive home, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Chaves sexually assaulted the woman and choked her until she passed out, according to his arrest warrant.

Neighbors told the news station there are dozens of children who live in the neighborhood and several stay-at-home mothers.

Chaves was arrested Sunday afternoon at his home along Lerose Court, which is less than two miles from where the alleged attack took place, jail records show.

He faces one count each of battery, first-degree burglary, aggravated sodomy and aggravated assault. He is being held without bond at the Cobb County jail.
