A man was jailed after he allegedly tried to strangle a pregnant woman in Clayton County.

The county fugitive squad arrested Roy Sebastian Wednesday after authorities found his car outside an apartment complex in Clayton, according to a news release from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

“Sebastian was taken into custody without incident,” the sheriff’s office said.

According to the release, the incident occurred April 22 in Hampton. Sebastian grabbed the victim’s stomach when she was five weeks pregnant and threatened to kill her unborn child, officials said.

“He further assaulted the victim by attempting to strangle her by placing his hand over her mouth and squeezing to interrupt the airflow, causing her to be unable to breathe,” the sheriff’s office said. “He also grabbed the pregnant victim and placed his hands around her neck, resulting in visible scratches and bruises to the right side of her cheek and areas on both sides of her neck.”

Sebastian faces charges of aggravated assault, assault on an unborn child, making terrorist threats/acts, battery and criminal trespassing.
