A man was arrested Wednesday after he took a knife into a Troup County elementary school, Channel 2 Action News reported.

David Breazeal, 51, faces loitering and possession of a weapon while on school property charges, Channel 2 reported.

Breazeal is thought to have done the same thing at another school in LaGrange, Channel 2 reported. Authorities are investigating if he took the weapon onto a college campus.

Breazeal, who does not have a child enrolled in the school, signed in to go to Hogansville Elementary’s science room but was found by a staffer in the media room. That person called police.

“A staff member noticed he was sounding incoherent and asked where he was going,” Troup County Schools spokeswoman Yolanda Stephen said.

No one was injured in the incident.

A parent event was being held at the school at the time, Stephen said.

“(Parents) have to sign in,” she said. “They have to show identification before they get in.

“We are looking at our safety measures, because it's important to us.”
