Officials believe they’ve caught the man responsible for paralyzing a Villa Rica man by shooting him in the spine.

David Wayne Bell, 40, allegedly shot Michael Henderson in the left arm and left Henderson slumped in his white GMC truck, according to a police report.

Henderson’s girlfriend, Ravin Montgomery, told officers that Bell, an ex-boyfriend of hers, chased them down in his truck.

“Bell drove his truck around the yard to face Michael’s truck and acted as though he was going to hit it,” the police report states.

Montgomery said she watched as Bell stuck his arm out of the window and fired, before driving away through the yard toward Cown Road.

Carroll County Capt. Jeff Richards said when deputies responded to a shots fired call Feb. 9, Bell had left the area.

A single .380-caliber shell was found on the ground, according to the police report.

U.S. Marshals helped Carroll County deputies capture Bell on Feb. 14.

Bell faces aggravated assault and battery charges related to the attack.

Richards did not know if the man, who was known to Bell, would be paralyzed permanently.

Bell was denied bond at a first appearance and remains at the Carroll County jail.
