A College Park man who raped his downstairs neighbor in front of her baby will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Johnny Mouzon, 34, was convicted of rape and burglary for the September 2013 attack, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

A woman was sleeping with her child inside her apartment when she awoke to someone grabbing her legs and pulling her to the edge of the bed, prosecutors said. The 24-year-old assumed it was her boyfriend because the room was dark, but did not know he had already left their home.

Authorities said Mouzon, who lived upstairs, let himself in through an unlocked door, entered the woman's room and raped her. Believing it was her boyfriend, she told Mouzon to stop when her baby began crying, prosecutors said.
At that point, Mouzon reportedly said, "Don't worry about all that."

When the woman realized she was being raped, Mouzon ran from the apartment and the police were called. The victim was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where a rape kit was completed. The DNA recovered matched Mouzon, who had 15 previous arrests and five prior convictions, prosecutors said.

He was convicted of burglary in 2002 and 2003 and false imprisonment in 2010. Mouzon was also convicted of misdemeanor public indecency/sexual intercourse in 2002, according to the DA’s office.

He was sentenced as a repeat offender to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus an additional 20 years.
