A Hall County man is accused of killing his 70-year-old grandmother, police said Friday night.

Around 2:30 p.m. Friday, deputies responded to a Gainesville-area home after a report of a woman being assaulted, Deputy John Marshall with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said. Paramedics transported Lula Bell Howard, 70, to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where she later died, Marshall said.

Howard’s grandson was later arrested and charged with her death, the sheriff’s office said.

Ronnie Quqomeki Rucker, 32, of Gainesville, was booked into the Hall County jail, Marshall said. He is awaiting his first court appearance.

No details about a possible motive were released late Friday.

Rucker is a convicted felon and has twice served in state prison, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was most recently released in December after serving nearly four years following an aggravated battery conviction, records show.

From June 2007 until April 2009, Rucker served time for his conviction for aggravated assault.
