A Florida man accused of kidnapping an Alabama taxi driver was arrested Wednesday after forcing the woman to drive to Middle Georgia, authorities said.

Tony Levestear Scott Jr., 22, was captured in Monroe County after deputies there spotted a Hyundai Sonata reported stolen out of Mobile, Alabama, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Scott is accused of carjacking the woman in Mobile and forcing her to drive east, authorities said. She was able to escape the car in Crawford County and tell police what happened, Alabama-based WALA-TV reported.

Deputies spotted the abandoned vehicle Wednesday morning near Billy Harris Road and after a brief manhunt, Scott was located and taken into custody, authorities said. A firearm was allegedly found on Scott’s person at the time of his arrest, according to the news release.

The Pensacola man was booked into the Crawford County jail, where he is being held without bond as he awaits extradition to Alabama, authorities said.
