Days after being named as a murder suspect, a man was arrested by Clayton County authorities in Atlanta.

Tory Jacob Benefield is accused of killing another man during a drug deal outside a convenience store in Lovejoy, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office previously said. On Monday night, deputies arrested him in an unspecified place in Atlanta, according to a news release.

Lovejoy police arrived at the gas station on the evening of Nov. 29 to find a man with a gunshot wound to the chest, AJC.com previously reported. The victim, who the sheriff’s office did not identify, later died at a hospital.

Benefield along with two other men planned to meet the victim and one other person at the gas station to conduct a drug transaction, but Benefield tried to rob them instead, the sheriff’s office said. A struggle ensued during the encounter, leading Benefield to allegedly shoot the victim and fire at the car as it drove away.

Lovejoy police obtained warrants for malice murder, aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery against Benefield.

As of Monday night, he had not been booked into the Clayton County Jail, according to online jail records.
