A Locust Grove man will spend 10 years behind bars after he held his estranged wife and her 11-year-old daughter at gunpoint, according to authorities.

Ali Ihsan, 42, was convicted Thursday of aggravated assault-family violence and child cruelty after a two-day trial, Cobb County District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Kim Isaza said in a news release.

Ihsan brandished two guns Feb. 25 at his estranged wife’s apartment on Panda Court in Austell. He then gave orders to the woman and the girl as he held them at gunpoint, Isaza said.

After the incident, Ihsan threw a surveillance camera into a fish tank. However, according to the news release, the woman was able to take a video of the incident and send it to her employer.

Police were notified two days later.

“The defendant’s conduct was violent and horrific,” Senior ADA Jennifer Stevenson said.

He was sentenced to 10 years to serve and 10 years on probation.
