Eight Henry County schools were temporarily on lockdown Thursday morning while police pursued an armed man who ran during a traffic stop, according to police.

The lockdown, which lasted about 45 minutes, was lifted when the suspect was captured and arrested, Capt. Joey Smith with Henry police said. The suspect’s name and charges were not released.

Affected schools included Stockbridge elementary, middle and high schools, Woodland elementary, middle and high schools, Smith-Barnes Elementary School and Cotton Indian Elementary School. Shortly after 11 a.m., all normal activities resumed at all schools and the lockdown was lifted, the school system said.
