Police say a Lilburn man has been charged with the murder of his wife.

Rupert Clarke, 59, and his wife, Rose Marie Lebert, 56, were arguing over finances at their home when Clarke shot her with a handgun, according to Lilburn police chief Bruce Hedley.

An adult son was home at the time of the incident Saturday afternoon. Police say he heard the shots and called 911.

Clarke surrendered when officers arrived and was later booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center. He is charged with murder and aggravated assault, according to booking records.
